======== 🪪About ======== Soy Food -------- Foods of African origin are often called "Soul Food". I love this term because it suggests that food can connect us to our roots and remind us of home. As someone of Asian descent, I naturally gravitate toward Asian cooking. When I made my YouTube channel, I wanted a name that captured the essence of the foods I specialize in. That's how I arrived at **"Soy Food"**. I think it fits perfectly because so much of Eastern cooking is defined by soy sauce, not to mention other ingredients like soybeans, soy milk, edamame, and tofu. Plus, it feels personal. Back in high school, I was nicknamed "Soy Sauce" because my name happened to be identical to a popular soy sauce brand in China. In that sense, "Soy Food" kind of feels like *my* food. Myself ------ I started cooking in my early 20s when I was preparing to study abroad. My skills only got better over time because Asian food overseas usually tasted awful, and I was too broke to dine out. What began as a survival skill gradually turned into a passion. When my life was without a goal, I realized I spent more time sleeping, cooking, and eating than doing anything else. So I figured investing in cooking would bring me the most happiness. After almost 10 years (and counting) of daily cooking, I now have hundreds of recipes perfected over the years. That's how this cookbook came to be, not only to make up for my poor memory, but also to realize the dream I had when cooking first became an essential part of my life.
